Since 2015, there has been a single procurement portal for Northern Ireland called eTendersNI. Around 95% of all public sector bodies use this portal to advertise government tender opportunities. The portal recently underwent a significant change. Previously users had to download a piece of software called a Tender Preparation Tool (TPT) to compile and submit their tender. This often proved troublesome and added to the complexity of submitting a tender, particularly for people who were new to the process. The Department of Finance’s Construction and Procurement Delivery (CPD) Division has consulted with industry representatives and worked with their supplier European Dynamics to develop a new user interface to implement a change whereby tenderers can compile their submission directly on the eTendersNI website without having to use the TPT. The change went live earlier in September. In my opinion, this is good news for anyone involved in bid management, and has to be welcomed. To read more, click here.
Launching the new portal are Finance Minister Conor Murphy, Ian McClelland from LM Services, Angie Brown from Pierce Printellect, Paul Millar from Hamilton Architects, and Gerard Graham from Gerard Graham Consulting.
